Mom and Daddy Came to visit, we went WWR, and To the Gold Coast...We're on a Boat!!

Wow its been a super long time since ive posted anything...and alot has happened...lets see...well so much has happened since Magnetic Island...mmm my mom and dad came to visit which was absolutely amazing---we traveled to Cairns via Greyhound bus going because my dad wanted to see the "country side" and by plane back...the Greyhound was a HORRIBLE idea as my mom was sick the entire time...once we got to Cairns we did alot of really cool stuff including: eating kangaroo (my new fav food), crocodile, and Emu which were all super tasty....we also did a hot air balloon ride to see the sunrise which was amazing, we went to the Kuranda and took a trip on the cable car, mom got sick so just Daddy and I went to Green Island which was really pretty as well even though I got super sunburned but dad remained completely fine as he was using the "army strength" sunscreen....Rewind back a week and we traveled to Mission Beach to go white water rafting which was an adventue in and of itself--we took a Greyhound there and one of the stop was Cardwell...so we get off the bus and are just kinda hangin out because we have about 30 minutes to kill and Todd and I hear karaoke...i look at him and we both just start going toward the bar..the others stay behind until my lovely voice carries to them and they come and watch Todd and I sing "Friends in low places" we didnt know if we were going to have time but the DJ annoucned that we have some "traveling tourists who want to perform" and so Wild Rose and Bronco were born...no one clapped...not even our friends...but oh well continuing on..--Todd, Chad, Sam, Sara, Jen and I had a wonderful day rafting on the Tully River but every one of us fell out of the boat atleast once, Jen almost died, Sam was propositioned by our guide "Frank", Sara and I almost died when the raft guy didnt see us and flipped the boat over ontop of us, and my paddle never touched water...all i heard the entire day was "paddle bitch" from Todd and the others *though Todd was the most vocal*--we stayed at Scotty's beach house in which a man with a shady goatee slept across from me and sara enjoyed it by taking creepy pics!! mmm...what else? oh we went to Uni Club a few times where in a nutshell over a 4 week period of time sara managed to lose dignity in here pink dress haha, Sam managed to stay in character with her "black dress with the tights underneath"..Todd and I continued to creep and me in true creeping attire (black shorts) and whitney bailed out unforunately :-(!!---So fast forward to the Gold Coast---It can only be described as craziness...sam and i ventured to the GC with the following happening:
1. a shady ass hostel
2. shady roomates
3. me tryin to tell time on a sketchy "wrist watch"
4. total creeper in the computer lab
5. Parasailing, Jetskiing, Jetboating, a look from Q1, and more Gelato and Ice cream than is probably allowed
6. I was proposed too....by my roomate Doug/Dave...probably the only proposal i will get in my life
7. Sam was almost molested
8. The waves in Surfer's Paradise almost killed us
9. Dracula's Dinner theatre--which was absolutely amazing
10. sleeping in the airport--TWICE and having a creepy man stand over us and watch us sleep
11. my iPhone was stolen....from baggage...
12. Sam told me we were on the wrong train and we ended up in Tembula or something like it and eating at a rooftop Sizzler behind a group of Rugby Players...and before anyone gets too excited they were like 10
13. Sam had bruises from Tower of Terror...Dreamworld was very entertaining and Aliens vs. Predators was a bit terrifying haha
14. Dracula's Haunted House was a good time even though Sam almost cried
15. A pretty amazing week with a great friend :-)

....now i am back at school and it seems like everyone else had an amazing time as well...sara, todd, wes, whit and brittany all went to NZ which looks amazing--i will be going in June so I am super excited....and Sara now is in quarantine for swine flu...she even wears a mask haha--its hard to believe I've already been here for 3 months almost--and its going by really fast...I am going to Singapore, Indonesia, and Malayasia in June as well and am looking forward to seeing the sights, trying the food and singing my heart of during karaoke....and in August I am going to Malta to see Lino and am super excited about that as welll--it should be a good summer!! Ill try to update this more because I know katie and whitney creep on it haha :-) thats all

WOW...a lot has happened...

Well last weekend we ventured to Magnetic Island where many sketchy things occured...but all in all the island was beautiful and breathtaking. We stayed at a hostel on the island and Sam, Brittany and I had no idea what the nights would bring!! Just to sum it up...Sam was found showering in her clothes, Brittany was off on an excursion to see a "tent" and I was stopped on the bridge by a European man (after getting almost molested the night before by an italian) who asked "whats wrong ky" and all i said was "i miss lino" to which he said "whos lino" and i replied "this boy i like" to which he replied "well why dont i walk you back" to which i said "ok" and once we got back in the room he tried to stay which is an entire story in itself HE DID NOT STAY and left Thank God!! Anyways...Magnetic Island is breathtaking and gorgeous and all the in between..we even saw a wedding on the island which was so romantic and beautiful--anyways i started feeling more sick on sunday and the other girls didnt feel so hott either so we decided to come back early and on Monday after my presentation in which Chad played an aboriginee--i still didnt feel better and by Tuesday I was dying...so after going to the doc on tuesday ...i have mono :-( bOO...and i had to go back today and get more blood work done...it totally sucks but im hanging in there and just trying to catch up with school...

Walking through a Drive Thru

So for the past 3 days I have continued to feel like death and yesterday I woke up with pink eye and have no idea how I got it..gross...anyways tonight as I was doing my reading for my quiz sam calls me and asks to go to McDonalds...I reply with perhaps...but how are we going to get there? Obvioulsy delivery wasnt an option via Dominos or any chinese restaurant because it was past 10 and everything closes at like 3 on Sundays...except Mcdonalds...We run through possible Aussie people who could take us: Matt, Andrew, Shawn, Katie, Caitlyn various others and decide to take a taxi...we invite sara to join along who after a bit of convincing complies...so we call a taxi. First of all, the taxi driver is super sketch so we just tell him to pull into McDonalds..once we get there we tell him we will just get out and call another to pick us up when we are done..so we go to get into McD's and they lock the doors on us literally as soon as we get there..they tell us to go to the drive thru..we explain to them that we do not have cars and they said it was fine..yes we walked through a drive thru something i havent even done in KY but choose to do over here..and by choose i mean forced. well of course sam and sara get there food and scurry away and while i am waiting on my chicken nuggets a car pulls up behind me..yes i am waiting to be served at the window while a car sits behind me...it was probably one of the most embarassing moments of my life..as sam and sara merely take pictures from a distance...not that this blog is really relevant in anyway i just wanted to make sure i remember this night when i return because it was very funny and possibly the lowest CF point in my life..therefore documentation was in order!!

BTW sara who did not want to go to McDonalds in the first place decided to purchase a McFlurry and Frozen Coke...perfect haha

Cant wait to for my weekend excursions and St. Pattys DAy on Tuesday Night it is suppose to be soo wild

In a Blog mood

So for the past 4 days Ive been sick...I dont know if its from the sketch trailor i live in, the esphestus which we think could be lurking, or the creepy aussie who decided to kiss me literally out of nowhere and whom sara slapped directly after...we arent sure of the cause. Nevertheless I have already been to the doctor once this week and I havent started feeling any better so I decided to go the Uni Clinic today...and I found out they dont talk walk-ins the hard way. FML. I made an appt. for tomorrow but I have a fieldtrip I have to attend so I doubt I will make it. Ive been in a frumpy mood the past coupld days and I am pretty sure its because I feel so ick...I like being home when I am sick--even when Im at Transy I prefer to be home when I dont feel well...so it sucks being in a trailor and feeling like death lol... In other news I bought "Its just a date" earlier this week its by Greg Behrendt My absolute favorite author think *he's just not that into you* and *it's called a break-up*...so Ive started reading that and as with all of his books its wildly comical.
Spring break plans are still up in the air...I may add New Zealand as a stopover flight on my way back to the states instead of going on spring break...Im thinking for spring break i may go to a 4 day dive cert. school on magnetic island and because certified to scuba and then fly down to sydney and learn to surf..then catch NZ on my way home...but who knows? I also wanted to go to Fiji ---its hard to find time to do everything. This coming up weekend I am meeting with Aboriginal people including "Uncle Rusty" who apparently is a pretty big deal so that should be exciting and then next weekend im Going to MAgnetic Island and kayaking i think and the next white water rafting at Mission Beach which i am def looking forward too--ive never been and we are going on level 4 rapids!! PERFECT!! haha
In other news Katie is planning to come to Malta with me which is really exciting..we are planning to fly into Rome and stay there for a bit and Lino and one of his friends may meet us there---after that we are taking a ferry to Malta and spending almost 3 weeks..so basically Ill be in Europe for the entire month of August--but I am DEF. Not complaining--I am looking more forward to this trip than any I have taken. mmm...what else? its been pretty unevenful in Townsville Todd and Sam came over last night and we ordered dominos which is really expensive here and you dont get a ton of food...I have been excercising with an elastic band in my trailor lol--and im trying to get my butt up and run with sam and britt in the mornings but i havent had much luck--im trying to get healthy here and slim down..unforunately the past few days have 86ed the healthy part!! Oh i went to stocklands today to get medicene and buy trashy magazines (BTW I CANT BELIEVE RIHANNA is back with him) and there was a huge girlfight..and security rushed in..sam and britt and i were in awe lol--it was def. CF....mmm...its late and I have to get up early so I suppose Ill go to bed but I felt in a blog-mood so i figured id write..sometimes it helps to just vent frustrations or whatever--I cant believe Ive already been here over a month..hope everything is well at home.

OH...

And I have also been introduced to the site "www.Fmylife.com"---I would suggest checking it out..it makes me laugh daily!

Its been awhile...

Its been quite a while since Ive written and as requested from Katherine Boone..I will update on my adventure...Recently, I celebrated my 21st birthday...a group of about 15 went to dinner and then we came back and Sam and Sara threw a party for me where we played games and had a really great time. I was introduced to a drinking game known as "Matt Dawes" but the entire night I thought it was mad dogs..it was pretty funny. I also got a flask with "Tina's 21st" engraved on it..so that really nice and its pink :-)... I also got a lot of really nice cards in the mail so thanks for those :-)...My parents called me on my birthday and informed me that I can go to Malta in August to visit Lino for my bday present--so i am super excited about that! We've been talking and ive decided to stay almost 3 weeks there---we are going to Sicily and stuff as well while Im there so that should be super exciting!! Back to my Aussie adventure...I am going to Magnetic Island this friday for the "full moon" party..the hotels and stuff filled up so quickly we have no room to stay in..so we are camping out on the beach on friday but its suppose to be wild so im pretty excited! I went the reef HQ yesterday which is a big aquarium here and it was very cool....We all went out last night to the exchange which is a common hangout on Flinders St which is the night scene here...it was so much fun--somehow sam got seperated from the group and wound up face down in a ditch..literally...she was so mad at us this morning at breakfast but as with most things we were laughing about it 5 minutes later..Todd, Sara, and I ventured to a SKETCHY sushi place the other night..it was decorated with insect figurines, and paper napkins in the wine glasses in an attempt to "church up the place" i refused to eat there so todd made up some story and the waitress just looked at us..and we bolted..we said we were going to stop at the next decent restaurant..well that didnt happen until we came to Cactus Jacks which was almost 4 miles from the restaurant...and so we walked...what else?...We are trying to finalize spring break plans and I think we have decided to go to New Zealand..it should be an amazing time and it had the tallest bungee jump in the world so we are def. doing that--taylor swift is coming to Brisbane this week and I cant go :-( boo...My parents are coming in about 4 weeks and I am so excited to see them--I am trying to plan a bunch of stuff for them to do i just dont feel like there is enough time! the other night we went down to the strand and ate ice cream on the beach..it was very nice although there were so many couples it made me sick!! haha--we then drove up to castle hill and just watched the city lights..it was so beautiful!! ERich is coming in just a couple of months and I am super excited about that...I told him we are going skydiving again but he doesnt seem to excited so who knows?...I spoke with my sister the other day and she told me that Leeann womack is opening up for brooks and dunn this summer so im pretty excited about that...VIP tickets and Ill be 21!! I miss my friends in KY--its been really nice to see most of you on skype or talk on FB....Mm...I dont know what else to say...life is going really great here--its just going by so fast and I feel like i cant grasp it..i have some other funny stories but those need to be shared in person!! I really love my friends over here--they are so much fun and always up for an adventure...A few of us are going to take surfing lessons in Sydney and the Gold Coast soon so Im super pumped about that....As for me, the trailor is still Sketchy, the food in the dorm is even more sketchy, the bugs which i wake up to each morning in teh trailor have decreased, and I am going to treasure my car when i return--waiting an hour for the bus or almost dying a few nights ago with todd and sara i have come to appreciate public transport...anyways--I feel like I am growing as a person while I am here...I am doing things I never thought I would do, being more independent and in some ways depending on others more. I am learning about myself and reflecting on the past 6 months of my life...which looking back seem to have been a dream. I feel like when I return to the states I am going to be a completely different person...I can already tell Ive changed a lot of things--- I hope this satisfies you Katie Boone--Ill try and update this more. Love and Miss you guys!!

ALSO NOTE***

I should also note that the Australians find the way I talk very funny and they say they havent heard any American talk the way I do...its very funny but I tell them that people in the U.S. dont understand me half the time so its ok if they dont as well!! Also, the "Tina" phenomenon continues as several of the Aussies now call each other Tina!! I really am enjoying my time here...I was so worried about being homesick and sad after everything that had happened but I am slowly starting to realize that everything happens for a reason and even appreciate it. It's intoxicatingly liberating. I am also turning 21 next weekend which I am super pumped about--Im sad my family and friends from the states wont be here but I cant wait to see what they have in store for me when I come home!! Thats all.

Round 2

So the past few days have been pretty interesting---My friends and I went to our usual location of Cactus Jacks on Thursday and then came back and had a party with some random Aussies we met...it was pretty entertaining. Friday night there was a op shop party where everyone dresses up in clothes from a thrift shop or something...then they had a new student pic which luckily I didnt get in because they threw flour on everyone...it was so funny but then they threw water on everyone and sadly i didnt escape that!! We then headed to the UniBar where some random Aussies tried to get me to go to the lake with them today (saturday) but I told them they could be seriAL killers which seemed to offend them...lol. We came back to the dorms and hung out until pretty late in the morning where my friend *who chooses to remain anonymous* had her own crazy shannanigans!! Anyways...moving on from the "party" scene I got all of my classes figured out and am taking : Violence against women, Australian Women's Studies, Sex, Drugs, and Human Nature, and Linking Indigenousness....Im pretty excited about LI because we get to do field work and actually work with aboriginies--I met with my professor yesterday and she seems super nice so Im pretty stoked about that. I also got my student ID made so now I can get the bus fare for half price-THANK GOODNESS!! Im getting ready to purchase a bike even though Im scared of riding it...considering they drive on the opposite side of the road here I can see disaster in my future!! Also noteworthy the bugs which i have seen every morning were not beside me this morning--so maybe they have left!! the cleaning people said there is nothing they can do about them...so i just let them be lol. On other notes...I am going to Sydney in a couple of weeks to do a 5 day surf lesson which I am pretty stoked about....I think its going to be amazing!! We are still trying to figure out where we are going for Spring Break...several ideas have been thrown out but no one is for sure yet!! I am so excited about starting classes on Monday and meeting other anthro majors!! I am getting ready to go to a "Tarzan and Jane" themed pool party and then we are all heading the exchange for the "official afterparty" it makes me laugh because I feel like Im in Hollywood or something when they say that haha---oh and there is a BBQ at my trailor park tonight so i think i will do that as well!! haha---anyways I hope everything is well in the states!!

The First 2 weeks

So I have finally arrived in the Land Down Under...and I must say some very eventful things have happened in the process so I will just begin at the very beginning...

So I arrived in Cairns after nearly 21 hours in the air....we had a 7 hour layover at the LAX airport where I had the pleasure of seeing Daisy from Rock of Love---she was with an entourage of 2 people and it killed me to not go and ask for her autograph...anyways after my inital sighting of Daisy I became fast friends with two girls named Sam and Sara whom I have an absolute blast with. My time in Cairns brought some very interesting happenings in my life including:

1. Skydiving at 14,000 feet (the highest you can legally jump in Australia)
2. Going into the rainforst where Sara Sam and I were almost killed by Tina (The name we gave the driver of the "Army Duck" when she decided she could no longer see properly yet continued to drive the armyduck into water...I also held a koala and met aborginal people, learned how to throw a boomerang, saw a crocodile, was terrified by a snake and watched a tradional aborginal dance
3. Went to the Great Barrier reef where I snorkeled and scuba dived (I am now getting ready to get certified to dive) I also got really sunburned to the point that I didnt even want to go out that night so I knew I was sick!! My face blistered and I had to get some type of ointment called "Papa Cream" to help with the blisters.
4. I went to the "Wet Walrus" which I would later find out was actually called the Woodshed it was very fun
5. A girl at the hostel had bed bugs in her bed (obviously) and they had to wash all of her clothes and freeze them for 24 hours...sketch!
6. My friend Sam almost passed out due to her sunburn which shouldnt be funny at all but Sara and I seemed to get some type of laughter...but shes feeling better now!!

Now moving on...We started our decent to Townsville where we road a Greyhound for approx. 4 hours and while on our "lunch break" our Gray hound busy driver also acted as the chef at the local fish and chips place we stopped at *Sketch* anyways we have now arrived at Townsville and my life has been semi-unproductive yet eventful. Initially moving here I thought I would be living in an apartment...well I am now living in a trailor...actually a fourth of a trailor. Yes I live in a trailor park but ironically I've become quite fond of it! the people are super nice even though last night i woke up to banging on the door at 5 AM for "initiation." We went to Wal-Mart the first night we were here and basically bought out the store...I have made friends with a lot of awesome people! The nightlife here is amazing...everyone dresses up and I have never seen so many people out and about! I am about 10 minutes away from the beach and we went there the other day...we are suppose to wear stinger suits to protect us from the box jelly fish and irukandji which really scares me!! Anyways we are planning on going to the Moon party at Magnetic Island which is where you take a ferry and party for days---Im pretty excited and I have seen magnetic island just from the beach and it looks absoultely beautiful. I went to a toga party last night where I dont think I had ever been so hot...listerally it felt like 100 degrees but it was absolutely so much fun!! They have an actual bar on campus and a lot of students hang out there which is really cool!!

As far as myself goes, I am doing great and have really surprised myself with my indepedence...I really think this is going to be a life changing trip! I am excited that my parents are coming in April and ready to see Erich--its been really nice to stay in contact with everyone on skype and I really appreciate everyone's e-mails! I'll keep you posted---we dont start classes till next Monday so I still have a little bit of freedom...so far I am planning on getting my certification for skydiving and scuba diving..we'll see how it goes! Hope everyone is well!!!
